Wolf Pack

So me and a couple of buddies are running the three Peaks Challenge in 82 days and we need you to help us raise money for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea. The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews rescue an average of 22 people every day around the coasts and waterways of Britain and Ireland. From 235 lifeboat stations, they are well trained and equipped to put to sea in the most fearsome conditions when the call comes. RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 140 beaches in England and Wales.

As well as rescuing people from the water, they are also on hand for first aid and safety advice, making sure everyone can make the most of their day at the beach. Are you passionate about the water? Do you want to be part of a lifesaving team? Whatever the reason for your interest in our work, we’d love to have you onboard. The RNLI is an independent charity and receives no government funding. We rely on public support.

To give to this great charity please go to this page:

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/thewolfpack4

and press Donate Now.

When you do donate make sure to set the
"Which member of the fundraising team would you like to allocate your donation to?"
section to either the group as a whole or James Varma.

It might be charity but I still need to win >.>

Ok, thanks guys,

Three Peaks

So some time soon I'm going to be posting here that I need sponsorship. I've mentioned before that I'm going to be doing the three peaks challenge, but now I have a date! I'm not sure what it is, but I have one.

Three peaks is a 24 hour challenge climbing the three tallest mountains in Britain;
Mount Snowdon in Wales

Scafell Pike in England
and
Ben Nevis in Scotland

I'm not certain on the route we're taking, but I would imagine the order above would make the most sense since the guys im doign it with live near Wales.

So yeah, basically I'm saying watch this space, I'll be stealing your money with guilt soon.

Up, down, up, down, up, down.

So, yesterday was my birthday! I turned twenty-six! Yup, happy birthday me! I didn't die in the 365 days between my last birthday and my latest one. But it also meant that I didn't blog, which means instead I have to do it on the weekend, which is something I just don't do. I am not pleased.
But alas, that is what is to happen.

SO for a while now a friend and I have been talking about the three peaks challenge in GB. It's three hikes to the top of the three tallest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland. The mountains aren't particularly large compared to the mountains in other countries, Scafell Pike is 987m (3210 ft)  Mount Snowdon comes in at 1085m (3560 ft) and Ben Nevis is 1344m (4409ft). The trick isn't doing all the walks, it's the time limit. they are miles away from each other. There's 465 miles of driving to be done (roughly 10 hours by current driving laws) each of the climes are supposed to take about 5 hours each and you only get twenty-four hours to do it.

I bring this up because during this week my friend signed us up to do it for charity (Royal national Lifeboat Institute and Rescue global I think, but I didn't get a choice in that matter) on the 27th of July.

It should be really fun and exhausting and while I hope I get a job I'm going to have to take time off around then, I can't see myself doing all that and being able to get to work the next day. I just don't work that way!

I have been thinking about what sorts of things I'll need and I'm thinking I should replace my hiking books, get some warmer trousers and one of these bags to carry a bottle of water on each one as well as a couple of energy bars, just in case.

Anyway, it should be awesome, expect me to start asking for sponsorship as soon as I know how!

Extra-Life

The more perceptive of you may have noticed that last night on Twitter I announced that I am taking part in the Extra Life event.
It's been a weird one. First I said I wasn't taking part cos I was away, then I said I wasn't away but I would only be available to help others through the night, now I'm saying I'm taking part.
It seemed a little stupid for me to do all the work but not reap the benefits (helping people IS a benefit aparently, I looked it up in the moral people's hand book, who knew, right?). I figured I'd join my friends team and take part.
So you all guessed what I'm gonna say, it's pretty freaking obvious, right? Ok, I'm gonna just get it out of the way;
I'm currently in last place on the list of my team... Please PLEASE give me your money. I swear it's going to a good cause!

If you have ny money to spare, even if it's just a dollar, please go to http://www.extra-life.org/participant/minority-opinions and save some kids lives.

If any of you need proof that I'm actually gamine I'm gonna have the most boring Ustream in the world running live from 2pm saturday until I get paranoid that people are watching and turn it off.

Enjoy.

p.s. I'm gonna be busy prepping tomorrow, so I wont be blogging, but there's been 2 blogs today now, so no harm no foul, amiright?

1-up

Hey, just a quickie today, some friends of mine (ok, a friend of mine and all her friends) are taking part in "Extra-Life". It's a 24 hour computer games marathon for 'childrens miracle network hospital', who provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids.

If you want to donate and help save kids lives then go here, pick one of the team members (my friend is the only girl on the team) and donate as much as you can. Even as little as $1 is a great help and remember all proceeds go to charity.

If you can't give any money but you've got the 20th of October free (third Saturday of the month) then sign up and start getting sponsors, if you can't do that either then spread the word, the more people who know, the more people who can help.

Now I know what you're thinking 'James, you awesome genius of a man you. You love computer games, why aren't you playing a 24 hour gaming binge to help kids? Is that genius of yours so fickle that you don't care? Are you a child hater? Huh? Huh?'
First of all, the mixture of overzealous compliments and un-founded aggression is very scary, please stop. Second; the truth is, sadly, I found out too late and already have plans for that weekend. I'll be doing it next year, but as compensation I hope that the donation I made to my friend's extra life session will go some way to persuade you all that I'm not a baby hating crazy person with no love for anything but his stories.

After all, it's best if you aren't aware of that.

Anyway, thanks again, any donations will be appreciated.
I really enjoyed this short
