Problems

So I think one of the reasons I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like lately is that I don't really know what to blog about. I used to have a lot of things going on, a lot of things to talk about but over the last few months they've slowly diminished. I used to write a lot, most days I'd target to get at least a thousand words and often come up with five times as many, but lately I only have time to write once or twice a week.
That's nobodies fault but my own of course. After all I could substitute Wildstar for writing, or do it in my lunch hour at wo- okay so I really should be doing it in my lunch hour at work (On days I'm not blogging) but the point is I don't have any writing to just drop on your screens, and to be honest even if I was writing more I'd be writing stories I couldn't show you because of where I am in them.

I also think that the main reason I don't have as much to talk about is the belief (likely true for 90% of the world) that nobody cares what I have to say. I mean really; who gives a crap what some random blogger from London thinks about any given subject, he's no expert, why should you care?
So maybe from now on I should focus on things that I do know a lot about. Things like writing, but turn it towards other peoples. Things like games and the games industry, of which I am a member. Things like movies and television... for no particular reason.

I've really enjoyed this blog over the last two years - oh hey we're coming up to the 2 year anniversary! OMG - and I want to keep it up and try to post more. I know I've said this before. I've pledged to post a certain amount before, but it never works out.
This time I'm not going to promise. I'm not going to pledge. I'm just going to say I want to.

Next week I will start with a write up of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files book series and we'll go from there.

Minority-opinions news

In news today I have invited my friend Liz to start blogging with me. For the most part she'll be posting cool things about geeky stuff that I can't do - like going to comicon next month - but I've also invited her to come up with a segment and post about things I'm not particularly interested in that some people out there might be.

Take for instance her being a girl, I'm sure there are lots of girly things out there she likes like pretty barbie dolls and... and... makeup and stuff that I'm not going to be able to go into, but now, here at Minority-opinions, we have a girl on staff to talk silly things with you.

Silly girly things.

In the next few days the blog will likely get a re-design to be more general and less about me - though I will still be keeping everyone up to date with my writing and my of 52 - what do you mean I'm not remotely up to date with that and if I was I'd be in the 40s now if not 50s yet I'm still floundering on 30s. How dare you!

But I'm hopeful that my dear friend Elizabeth will be able to add a heap of information and life to this stagnant pile of geekiness.

So...

So when I finished my work I figured that I'd have more time to post, I figured I'd be able to post every day without any stress, but I find myself lacking in things to actually talk about. Sure I've still got the of 52 section, but otherwise it's pretty hard to find things to talk about without, you know, going places and doing things.
And when I go places and do things I dont post cos I was out and couldn't!

It's all very difficult.

Today I thought I'd share with you the above grumblings and a recently finished map of the fantasy Kingdom of Galledar's capital city, once known as the 'Central Counties' later re-named Xelaren, however I'm not an artist and have yet to had one drawn, so instead I'll , um...

See, I've been doing a lot of writing for my fantasy detective novel and neglecting my editing. I'm enjoying Hunter, which I suppose is the important thing while I'm not hearing anything from the publishers and my unofficial editor is still going through my first book.
Still, I feel bad, like I'm supposed to be doing something and not doing it. Yes, the editing is the second book and not technically that important until I get a publishing deal, but I would still like to get it properly done- especially when you consider that my editing is less 'editing' and more 'writing it'.

As I've gone through the second book I've found a lot of half finished sections, a lot of sactions that were finished but needed more (I re-wrote a 20 page battle into 70 pages) and still more sections that just didn't seem to make sense the way it ended up.
I already know of at least 5 chapters that will need re-writing, another couple that will need major edits and another 2 that I just haven't ever written. At the time it felt like I'd be better off if I just carried on rather than dwelling on it, but now I wonder if that wasn't a bad decision. The editing shouldn't be quite so daunting as it feels.

Regardless I've just reached a section of TLC that was not in the first draft, I added the chapter to make it flow better (originally there was one chapter and It sort of montaged through training for a month making him stronger and more capable, but i felt it didn't work. Now I've broken up the chapter, lengthened it and added chapters between the sections that show characters elsewhere in the world. It would have helped if I hadn't brought all but 1 of the P.O.V. characters into the same place.) I'm not sure what to put in this chapter, I just know that if I want the book to flow well it needs to be there.

I'm fine, it's fine, we'll be fine. I'm gonna take a break from TLC until I get back from Norway and then try to finish editing before November because we all know what happens then.
